Dhikala is largest and most beautiful tourism zone of Corbett Tiger Reserve consisting large grasslands, river beds, Sal and mixed forests. Ramganga river flows through dhikala zone which supports variety of wildlife in the zone. Dhikala is also popular amongst photographers and wildlife enthusiasts since it acts as seasonal home to large population of Asiatic elephants and good density of wild tigers.
About Dhikala Forest Lodge
Dhikala forest lodge is run and managed by forest department under Corbett national park, it is located in the core area of Corbett national park. The entry gate for Dhikala is Dhangadi gate. You have to show your permits to forest guards here at this point.
Dhikala forest lodge is 30 kms from Dhangadi gate, and it will take around 01 Hr to 01 Hr 15 Mins to cover this distance. This journey from Dhangadi gate to Dhikala itself is full of adventures, you have to cross dense sal forest and Ramganga River with several seasonal rivers, the animals you are most likely to spot while going to Dhikala are herds of spotted deer, Barking deer, Sambhar, Barasinga, Elephants, and Hyena, Fox, Monitor Lizard and even Tigers also. Its location at core area of Corbett national park made it a perfect place to stay for wildlife enthusiast.

The food in Dhikala forest lodge is not a problem as there are two canteens within the premises of lodge. One of them is run by Kumaon mandal vikas nigam which is run by the tourism department of uttarakhand and offers buffet meals. Other canteen in dhikala forest lodge offers food in alacarte menu.
Bookings of Dhikala rooms are mainly divided into offline and online rooms. 17 Online rooms are booked online through official website of corbett national park and 8 offline rooms are alloted by booking office available at Ramnagar. 17 online rooms are further divided in Indian and foreign quota with 12 and 5 rooms respectivly.
The Dhikala forest rest house campus is covered with solar wire fence.

Dhikala is the only forest rest house in corbett national park which has electricity.

All the rooms at dhikala forest rest house are basic and there are no TV’s, AC’s. Though rooms have electricity points to charge your cameras and mobile. Rooms of same category can differ in size and space.

By road: Dhikala, Corbett National park is around 300 kms from Delhi. It takes approx 6 hrs to reach Dhikala from Delhi.
Route from Delhi is – Delhi - Hapur – Garhmukeshwar - Moradabad - Thakurdwara - Ramnagar – Dhikala, Corbett National Park.
By Train: Ramnagar is the nearest railhead to reach Dhikala. Dhikala entry gate is around 32 kms from Ramnagar railway station. Ramnagar station code is RMR.
By Air: Pantnagar is the nearest domestic airport to reach Dhikala, Corbett National park. It is only 50 km away from Corbett Park. Delhi is the nearest International Airport at a distance of 300 km.
Nov – Mid Dec – If you are planning to visit Dhikala from Nov to Mid Dec, then carry light woolen clothes.
Mid Dec – Feb – If you are planning to visit Dhikala from Mid Dec to Feb, then carry heavy woolen clothes, especially jackets, mufflers, hand gloves & cap (woolen).
March – April – If you are planning to visit Dhikala from March to April, then carry light jackets, sweaters etc.
May –June – If you are planning to visit Dhikala in
May or June, then carry loose cotton clothes which absorb sweat very easily. Also carry sunscreen lotions, sunglasses & caps for protection from sun.
Dhangari gate is the main entry gate to reach Dhikala. One can enter into Dhangari gate from 06 am till 04 pm only. After 4 pm entry will not be allowed & booking will be canceled & no refund would be provided.
Note: In order to stay at night in the Dhikala Forest guest House, the Indian and SAARC visitors have to book the accommodation in Dhikala Forest Lodge 44 days in advance and the Foreigners have to book the accommodation 92 days in advance. It is said that wildlife trip to India is incomplete if you have not visited Dhikala Forest Lodge.
